What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy helping students to realise their capabilities and be proud of themselves when they complete work they didn’t think they could do, as it’s very rewarding for both the tutor and the student.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I understand that students can be reluctant to try because they have been told they’re not good at a subject, so I try to give them a safe environment to try and sometimes fail without judgement. This involves developing a good rapport with students and getting to know them so I can understand which strategies they may respond best to, such as positive reinforcement, visual demonstrations, or worked examples. I also incorporate games and breaks into my tutoring to make learning more fun.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think tutors should give their students the confidence to try things even if they’re not sure if they’re right, as often students with a low belief of their abilities will struggle to attempt questions even when they are capable of completing them partially or fully. By slowly building up their confidence, small knock backs can be less damaging to the student’s self perception, and make them more receptive to learning.
