What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I love watching a person's confidence in their own ability grow, and knowing that I could use my passion for learning to help them accomplish this. The enjoyment or relief of someone realising the thing they thought was too difficult to do themselves, is actually possible is so contagious.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I always try to contextualise concepts in ways that I hope are unique for the person and specific to their level of understanding. As a visual learner, I also try to develop visual connections to the content, to help make ideas more intuitive. I also try to adapt my explanations, i.e. if the person is still confused the first time, I aim to find alternative ways to teach a concept as opposed to repeating the same technique.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

Cater to their individual needs - some people fall behind in school not because they are "less intelligent", but because of the "one shoe fits all" approach followed by many of our schools. It is important distinguish each person as an individual learner, and adjust accordingly. I also strongly believe in comprehension over memorisation. Studying should be about building intuition in the respective subject, that way a student can gain confidence in their own problem solving abilities, as opposed to relying solely on rote learning.
