What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

My interest in tutoring initially began as a casual decision to occupy my time during vacations; however, I quickly realized it could be an extremely rewarding position. The most gratifying aspect of being a tutor is the positive responsibility and the ability to effect real changes in a student's learning, particularly in their study habits. Witnessing these changes manifest over the months and positively impact the student's grades is truly fulfilling as this critical period in a student's life can significantly influence their future, including university and career choices.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I undertook a self-directed approach to highschool learning, while this made improvement challenging, the extensive reflection and adjustments I made through this approach forced me to grasp the nuances of standardized testing and recognize common pitfalls in study strategies that many students face. Consequently, my greatest strength in tutoring lies in my firm understanding of the standardized testing landscape and the successful strategies that enabled me to achieve perfect scores in nearly all of my standardized exams, securing a full-ride university scholarship.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Two critical attributes of the ideal tutor are strategy and responsiveness. Academic strategy encompasses two levels: overarching macro decisions involving study methods like flashcards and practice questions, and micro-level strategies assisting students in better understanding difficult concepts and drawing connections between related content. It is the tutor's role to help students develop these strategies to consolidate material efficiently. However, these strategies are rarely one-size-fits-all, requiring the tutor to be highly observant and responsive of student’s natural preferences.
