What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy tutoring because I feel a particular warmth in my heart when I am able to help students finally understand a topic. From my experiences as a student and a tutor, I understand how it feels for a student to be overwhelmed with new information. I found that it is overwhelmingness that holds a student back from fully encompassing new ideas. This is why I aim to simplify the topic and incorporate it into a story, trend or include funny words. I believe my communication skills have proved to be very helpful in previous tutoring experiences as I am very understanding. Confidence is a key element that tutors can either instil or take away from a student. All children are born with a capacity to learn and it is our job to help them realise their great potential. In saying that, tutors must always be kind, encouraging and supportive of a child so that they can be confident enough to venture into the unknown and learn new things. We must be a support person for them so that they can feel safe and hence be open to learning.
