What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I have always enjoyed math - I love to face a problem and spend time working out the answer. Overcoming a problem after hard work is very rewarding. At school I'd study math by teaching my mum, as it was a fun way to really get to grips with what I was learning. When I would take a study break from other subjects I would do a practice math paper in my break because I found it fun! So I enjoy tutoring math because I really enjoy doing it myself! Seeing somebody else have the lightbulb moment of understanding which was aided with your help is also a great feeling.My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Patience - it's not always easy and Math can be frustrating too. Patience is most important so nobody feels pressured! Adaptability and open mindedness - especially in Math when there are often multiple routes to an answer. I am open to hear what works for people and I can easily adapt my approach with what works for different people Seriousness (in a fun way) - I understand doing tutoring in spare time is not always what kids want to be doing. I like to build a fun environment but also need to make sure the sessions are fulfilling and as helpful as possibleMost important things I can do for a student 🏅
Firstly I think it's really important to show students the fun in the subject if they are really struggling. Offering them other ways of looking at it, or further explanation outside of a classroom is very beneficial. Ultimately the most important thing is for students to feel more confident and happy with their work by the time the sessions finish.
