I always try my best to figure out how someone best learns; I'm kind, I can empathise and see things from other peoples' perspectives; and when I'm confident in my own knowledge of a subject, I don't feel out of my depth trying to teach/tutor someone.Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them not only build the skills they need for the subject they're being tutored in, but also to build the skills to be confident of themselves within it as well. Added and subtracted fractions with the same denominator easily - sometimes forgot to simplify but always converted improper fractions to mixed numerals correctly. Ordered positive and negative fractions with different numerators and denominators in ascending order correctly. Still quite quick at addition in his head, with decimals as well. Rounding decimals to one decimal place correctly. Usually pretty quick at correctly identifying numerical and visual patterns Calculated the perimeter of a 3d shape correctly.
Recalling rules - unsure of what to do when the denominators of two fractions were different and you had to add or subtract them. Needs to practice remembering rules for area and measurement as well. Needed some prompting for how to calculate the area and volume of a shape, but was pretty okay with doing it after that
