Different students have different learning techniques, in that sense I think a teacher should describe a topic multiple times along with different ways to solve the same problem. And, I always keep in mind that everyone's understanding is not same and do not have the same mind set for learning the subjects. As a tutor, I believe I have the enough…

A tutor is a guide to show the right path. Students might stumble a lot, but tutor should hold him up, stand by him and show the right direction. Never giving up on a student, looking for opportunities to advance their skill is what a tutor should always do. I try to explain things from the student's perspective. For example, a gamer might…

Inside RamsgateTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Max worked on expanding and simplifying algebraic equations, as well as revising for an upcoming English speech.

For Year 9, Olivia focused on multiplying and dividing algebraic expressions and refining TEEL paragraph writing for Romeo and Juliet.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Michael practised solving trigonometric function problems (sine, cosine, tangent) with missing values and applied these skills to real-world worded questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 mathematics, one student repeatedly arrived without completed homework or revision, so sessions had to revisit old material rather than progress—"I end up having to spend the next week covering what I went through the previous week," a tutor noted.

In Year 11, a different student's written algebra was disorganised; steps were missed or left unwritten, which made it hard to spot errors in exam-style questions.

Meanwhile, a primary student misplaced homework sheets and wrote on scraps instead of using the booklet provided, leading to forgotten tasks and incomplete spelling practice by the next lesson.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Ramsgate noticed a Year 11 student who previously struggled with worded exam questions is now breaking them down more independently, using her own strategies to make sense of tricky language.

Another high schooler, after initially submitting very short TEEL paragraphs, recently wrote a much longer response and managed to edit it herself without prompting.

Meanwhile, one primary student—who used to guess spelling test answers—has started quietly sounding out each word before writing and completed last week's list with no mistakes for the first time.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Sans Souci Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ramsgate Public School.
