I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is build trust and confidence. A student should feel comfortable asking questions without fear of being judged. Beyond improving grades, a tutor should help students develop study habits, problem-solving skills, and self-belief so they can succeed on their own too. My main strengths are patience…

Recognise HOW a student actually learns. One of the hardest things a student has to learn is what method of studying actually suits them and once you find that the rest seems to fall in place. Devoting time and resources to your students to improve in their core weaknesses and not being afraid to reteach the most basic skills should also be common…

Within the professional tutor/student relationship the best thing a tutor can leave with a student is a good work ethic, that was enforced not harshly but rather within a positive environment. Furthermore, if they can take the approaches and skills in relation to learning in many of their future endeavours. I feel these are the signs of a good…

I believe tutors have the biggest impact on how a student approaches a subject. Speaking from personal experience, I don't think I would've liked studying the subjects I had in year 10, 11 and 12 if I hadn't had good teachers who knew how to make the subjects interesting to learn. A tutor is capable of making studying feel less burdensome and I…

The most crucial aspects a tutor can offer a student extend beyond mere academic guidance. A tutor's ability to create a personalized learning experience, adapting to the student's pace and style, stands out as paramount. Clear communication, patience, and empathy play pivotal roles in establishing a positive and supportive learning environment.…

A tutor should give honest time and effort to share the knowledge with his students.A tutor should also learn how to teach studnets based in their strengths and weaknesses. Give them the understanding and also the encouragement to succeed. Doing the work for the child isn't the way a child will learn. I have been working casually as a teacher in…

Help a student not only do better or to learn further in a subject but to actually inspire them to want to study and do they best that they can. Inside Mount AnnanTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Olivia worked on expanding and simplifying algebraic equations, then practised basic factorisation using step-by-step examples.

For Year 10, Ethan tackled trigonometry problems involving angles of depression and elevation as well as applying the sine rule to solve triangles.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Aisha focused on logarithmic equations and rules, followed by revision of quadratic graphs with targeted practice questions.

Recent Challenges

Several students in both primary and senior years showed patterns of incomplete homework—one Year 10 student "missed his homework twice now," making it harder to build confidence with new maths concepts.

In a Year 12 context, informing the tutor just three days before an exam limited revision time and led to rushed preparation.

Messy written work also surfaced, as one tutor noted a Year 7 student needs to "work more on handwriting."

A recurring theme: not taking initiative outside lessons, especially with past papers in Years 11–12, left gaps in tackling unfamiliar or advanced questions during assessments.

Recent Achievements

One Mount Annan tutor noted a Year 10 student who previously hesitated to ask for help now actively points out trouble spots, leading to more productive sessions.

In Year 11 Chemistry, a student who struggled with chemical reactions is now able to recall and explain combustion processes without prompting.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student has started finishing division independently after needing step-by-step guidance before. At the end of her lesson, she completed all assigned sums without any errors or pauses.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Narellan Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Mount Annan High School.
