Ensuring the student is comfortable within the learning environment and is engaged in the learning process, and explaining the concepts in multiple ways to improve their understanding. I am a highly committed person who genuinely enjoys learning new ideas and concepts. Despite this, I have struggled with stress and time management around…

There are 3 things a tutor must do in order to be successful and respected: listen, care and try (all three of these are my strongest points). My ability to connect with the student, empathise with their weak points and endeavour to provide them with specific questions and techniques will be a great asset for the EzyMath team. My strengths are…

Show commitment, whether its through showing up on time, or taking some of your spare time at home to mark their work. Also to support and encourage the individual to achiever their very best. I can explain a concept in many different ways, so if the student doesn't understand, I can easily explain in other ways until they get it. I can also adapt…

Legal Studies Tutor South Hurstville, NSW
I believe that being patient towards a student, while encouraging the student to be highly committed and willing to learn is very important for being a tutor. I also think that when tutoring, given the limited time available to teach each student, should also have a focus on helping the student learn methods and fully understand the topic to be…

Legal Studies Tutor Caringbah South, NSW
I believe the three most important things I could do for a student is academic support, addressing study habits and confronting weaknesses. I believe focusing on these three aspects will do the upmost for the student in the short and long term. I’ve grown up and worked with people from across the socio-economic spectrum, I think I have a…

Inside JannaliTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Mia worked on adding and subtracting fractions with both common and uncommon denominators, as well as multiplying and dividing positive and negative numbers using practical examples.

In Year 8, Jack focused on algebra by expanding brackets and factorising expressions into brackets, along with practice applying index laws to simplify terms.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Emily tackled financial maths topics like calculating simple and compound interest, plus worked through algebraic problems involving negative indices and expanding brackets for deeper understanding.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10, one student hesitated to read financial maths questions aloud and often skipped writing out working, which led to uncertainty when problems required several steps—she generally knows what she is meant to do however, struggles when adding multiple steps together.

In Year 8 algebra sessions, skipping the written process meant sign errors crept in, especially during equation rearrangement.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student sometimes avoided tricky worded problems unless completely sure of the answer, missing valuable practice.

After setbacks with long division in Year 4, frustration surfaced and confidence dropped; this left her reluctant to attempt unfamiliar methods on her own.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Jannali noticed Sophie, a Year 10 student, has shifted from hesitating over algebra to confidently expanding brackets and tackling both simple and compound interest problems independently.

Meanwhile, Abbey in Year 9 used to struggle with index laws but now applies them successfully when working through written questions on her own.

For a younger student, Charlotte in Year 4 has moved beyond basic arithmetic—she's started breaking down complex word problems by identifying key information first instead of diving straight into calculations. In her last session, she solved all perimeter tasks without any prompts.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Miranda Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like The Jannali High School.
