Tutor-student connection. If the pair don't maintain an almost friends connection it is hard to influence the students learning for the better. I understand the frustrations that come with the failures in teaching, and I can successfully help students overcome that, as well as I know how to adapt my teaching style to better benefit the…

For me, the most important thing a tutor can do for his student, is to make the latter find himself. This means that the tutor should first teach him how to learn, make him find ways/conditions in which he thrives the most. I believe that if the student manages to unlock that skill, irrespective of the subject, the sky is the limit for the…

To foster a good tutor-student relationship first. Having this as the first form of connection will help know the students character and personality (and vice versa) which then will help the tutor know the best way to teach. I believe this relationship is necessary for effective teaching. I learnt most and learnt best from the lecturers with whom…

I think one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to understand their struggles and to make them realise their own potential, so they can have the confidence to grow on their own. I understand that every individual is at a different level of understanding and has different needs. I would strive to provide a safe, calm…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is understanding the limits and talents of the child and teaching them by being in their limits. You can't always overfeed child with everything. For that you need to understand what the child is capable of. Then only a tutor can get succeeded in what he or she is aiming for I am able to become…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to be someone there to listen to them, someone there to guide them through their academic problems (not just the academics but the mindset as well) and someone who they feel is having a positive impact on their learning experience. The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is break down this unclimbable mountain of a problem into a simple hill. I believe that everyone has areas that they struggle with, and a lot of time with math, it's a lot less scary than it looks. The most essential part of tutoring is being able to explain the principles behind each concept so that it is fully understood by the student. A good tutor should create a safe and supportive environment, encouraging students to make mistakes and learn from them. They should foster a space where questions are welcomed and addressed, allowing for deeper engagement. Patience is vital, understanding that each student learns at their own pace. I think tutor should do everything for his or her students because after the parents only teacher is one person who can very closed for the student. Inside BentleyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Ali worked on finding gradients of lines using both the rise over run method and co-ordinates, as well as solving linear inequalities and exploring parallel and perpendicular gradients.

For Year 10, Sara focused on chemical equations by practising ionic formulas, hydrated compounds, and empirical formula calculations, reinforcing her understanding through worked examples.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Nia tackled decimals and fractions in geometry questions, using diagrams to help compare values and solve problems involving shapes.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student working on chemical equations had not completed the assigned homework, leading to repeated minor errors in writing formulas—"the student still shows some minor mistakes in writing chemical formulas," noted one tutor.

In Year 8 maths, another student's written work on rearranging equations was messy and lacked clear labelling, making it harder to spot calculation errors before moving on.

A Year 4 learner avoided practicing weekly spelling words, so the same mistakes resurfaced during class dictation.

One Year 7 student faced ongoing challenges converting word problems into diagrams, losing focus mid-task and requiring multiple reminders to return attention to problem-solving.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Bentley noticed one Year 11 student who used to hesitate with balancing ionic equations now talks through each step aloud and manages most problems independently.

Another high schooler, previously unsure about forming linear equations, has started solving for 'c' and graphing inequalities without prompting—she even asked for extra questions last session.

In a Year 4 session, a student who would get distracted during math tasks stayed focused throughout and answered all mental calculation questions quickly, showing much more patience than before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Cannington Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Santa Clara School.
