What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I am currently an online volunteer English teacher at the not-for-profit organisation Mind For Life. Therefore, I am efficient at preparing lesson plans, accessing teaching resources and creating colourful presentations. As I am passionate about inspiring the youth, I always want to take full responsibility for conveying knowledge and boosting students' self-esteem. Throughout this volunteer work, I enjoy encouraging students to learn English despite the geographical and language barriers, promoting a responsive environment and building meaningful relationships.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

As I love supporting people, my biggest strength is emotional intelligence. When doing the volunteer work, I always manage my emotions instead of being aggressive towards the vulnerable children. I demonstrate both assertive listening and assertive speaking skills. With assertive listening, I smile and pay attention to the children. With assertive speaking, I maintain a soft voice and use straight-forward language because vocal cues can impact their engagement. Furthermore, I am efficient at teaching on Zoom, Meet and using Wacom to write on the whiteboard.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I can establish a trusted relationship with my student because once they feel comfortable around me, they will not hesitate to ask questions and will be confident to share their interests and gain new knowledge. When explaining new concepts, I can also break them into smaller parts so that my student will feel less pressure. Finally, since children imitate adults, I can become a role model by showing positive personality traits and practising good habits.
