What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I especially love tutoring because it allows me to share my love for the sciences and mathematics with others. I think it's particularly important to share the intricate and inherent beauty that lies within these disciplines with juniors, because it's enthralling to share such elegance with the kids who might just end up being the future of these fields. I believe in developing proficiency through passion, as it's the healthiest and most sustainable way to master a field. It's a a privilege to guide young minds, and witness their development of a genuine passion for science and math.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I recently graduate and as such I possess a unique advantage in being relatable to young minds. My understanding of current educational environments allows me to empathise with them, fostering a supportive and encouraging environment for learning. Along with proficiency in the sciences and mathematics, I also have excellent interpersonal skills and am adept at tailoring a unique educational experience based on a tutee's profile, strengths, and weaknesses. I also incorporate the IB ATL (approaches-to-learning) skills whenever I teach, empowering students to become independent learners.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Empathise, empathise, empathise! I think tutors have to put themselves in their tutee's shoes and understand how they might respond and grasp to teaching approaches and concepts, tailoring their teaching around it. A teacher's predominant responsibility is to TEACH, which demands building a personal relationship with the tutee; proficiency in a subject can only go so far. Teaching is about a relationship that effectively fosters learning. After all, that's what differentiates a textbook and a teacher.
