What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Although I don't have any professional tutoring experience, I have assisted many high school classmates in understanding various subjects, especially math. My friends would often ask me for help and I would always jump at the opportunity. I love seeing the satisfaction someone experiences when they finally understand a certain topic or concept. Additionally, I understand the immense pride and joy that comes with seeing improvement in your own abilities, especially when you have been working incredibly hard to achieve it. It's incredibly rewarding when I get to help others experience this too.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I believe I'm great at listening and understanding an individuals way of thinking. By asking questions about what someone already understands, I can teach in a way that best suits them. However, I don't hesitate to change teaching methods or explain concepts differently if the current approach isn't working. I've often found that repeating the same explanation over and over again can actually make the concept more difficult to grasp. Recognising when it is necessary to introduce different, simpler exercises to break up the learning process is a skill I excel at.
Most important things I can do for a student π
In order for students to learn to the best of their ability, a tutor needs to create a safe space for them to make mistakes. I believe that the most valuable way to learn is through making mistakes. Additionally, a tutor must demonstrate healthy and effective communication with the student. Both of these aspects foster a respectful and honest relationship between the student and tutor, creating a healthy environment in which students can enjoy learning.
