What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Having navigated high school myself, I love being able to give back to younger students and give them the guidance that I wish I had received. Since graduating I've learned to look at learning from a productive perspective and hope to pass a love for learning onto others. I love reinforcing my own understanding and find myself living vicariously through others' successes and achievements. Going into medicine as a career is dedicating myself to a path of lifelong learning and I hope to be an example for students that learning is rewarding and fruitful.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I myself did not start out as an exemplary student, in some cases, I wasn't even an average student. From year 9 onwards I set my sights on Medicine as a future career and knew that I would have to dedicate myself to rigorous study to attain the grades that I needed. Because I wasn't by any means gifted, I can understand the struggles and frustrations of students when they don't understand concepts on the first go, or feeling like they're the only one in the room that doesn't understand. I know how to break hard concepts down for students to help them learn, as I once had to do for myself.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe that everyone has within them the tools to learn well. It is easy to become discouraged in a classroom when a student's efforts aren't being rewarded if they don't perform to a set standard. I think my role as a tutor is to give students the confidence, organizational techniques, and personal motivation to study autonomously. The best thing a tutor can do, in summary, is set students up to because to learn or learn how to learn, for themselves.
