What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the idea that every moment I spend with the student I might be making a huge and rolling impact in their life and learning. As a long-time tutor as well, I have had many many moments where students had their "eureka" moments when faced with roadblocks in their problem-solving, and just needed a prompt from someone around. Too many students do not believe in their own potentials and it gives me great pleasure in proving them otherwise and setting them up for success.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my strengths fall on two main aspects of my character and that is my ability to simplify and find patterns in everyday life to use as analogies for complex ideas, and the other being my warm and casual, laid-back attitude towards complex problems.
These two aspects work hand-in-hand in ensuring a conducive and safe environment is available for students to really let go and explore ideas and solutions that they would otherwise have not considered due to how infallible or preposterous they may seem, often finding key details or hints that lead them to the solution.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
At the end of the day, I believe that when it comes down to it, how one makes a difference in a student's life is not by teaching them everything they need to learn, but by teaching them how to believe in themselves more and how not to get lost in their own minds over their self-assessment of their abilities. These students spend 8 hours a day in a socially and academically complex environment and it is easy to forget how overwhelming it can be for individuals their age.
