What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy being able to engage with the student, being able to gain the mutual trust in any level that we are both showing up for the common goal of helping each other succeed. As much as I aim for the student to succeed, the student does the same for me, whether they know it or not, as I acquire professional skills and personal fulfilment. I like breaking down complex ideas into easier understandable blocks and seeing the student unlock a new piece of knowledge they did not appreciate before. I enjoy being able to help someone, being part of a team in their life that equips them to succeed.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my main strength as a tutor is my empathy and patience. As I appreciate the uniqueness of each one, I also try to put myself in the other's position to evaluate what they understand about the topic and the accompanying barriers and opportunities for learning. I understand that learning is multifactorial and it is not just as simple as feeding a lesson for someone to absorb. Learning has to be a balance between sticking to objectives while allowing room for the individuality of the student so that the experience is palatable and appropriate for the student.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Empowering the student is the most important thing I can do as a tutor. It is clear to me that my goal is not for the student to be dependent on me as a tutor. But, I am there to help and guide, to support and mentor, so that the student becomes capable and confident to do things on their own and progress further. Empowering someone else is not an easy task, but it is a challenge I am willing to take on. I have had the great privilege of being surrounded by people who have empowered me and I can only hope I can do the same for others.
