What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I was never a big fan of biology and chemistry in school. One thing led to another, and I ended up taking tuitions for chemistry and biology.
It was in those tuitions that I found out how much I actually liked the subjects. The tutors there were patient, understanding, and helped me at my own pace. It's safe to say that it was because of them that I ended up doing my undergraduate degree in Biotechnology and Chemistry. This example shows what I enjoy the most about tutoring - helping students enjoy learning and rediscovering their own capabilities.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have volunteered with an NGO called Teach for India when I was in India. With them, I had to teach children who couldn't afford to go to school. This experience gave me the opportunity to reflect upon myself and find out whether I did like to tutor. The answer to that would be a yes.
The feedback I received from the students and the NGO was positive. The strengths highlighted by them were similar to what I believed I possessed - patience, the ability to explain complex topics simply, being soft-spoken, and the ability to connect with students.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Tutors do the same things a good teacher does - i.e., providing students with an encouraging, and motivating atmosphere to learn to foster interest in a subject. They, however, also give an additional benefit - individual attention.
Therefore, they can play a big role in a student's education. They can be a friend and guide, helping them in each step of the way. They can help the student truly understand what they are learning. They can help students discover their hidden interest in a subject. All of these can potentially change a student's life for the better
