What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy seeing growth in students because I truly believe in the value of numeracy and literary skills. Many people overlook their education, saying that it "won't matter in the real world", however that is not true. In every profession, proficiency in these skills sets you apart -- so when I see growth in a student, I truly believe that they will reap the benefits of their investment now.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am very calm and patient. This has come through dealing with a lot of people whether it be through school, sport or cadets. Moreover, these activities have given me a good ability to connect with a variety of people.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the way a concept is framed is one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student. My Year 11 and 12 Maths Teacher, Mr Rocks, would always explain to our class how different people's brains work in different ways (e.g. geometrically, analytically) so while one concept might make a lot of sense to the tutor/teacher, the way he/she explains it may not get through to the student. In this case the tutor simply has to think about the concept and conceive a different style of approach -- it may even take 2 or 3 more different styles. However, understanding can always be reached.
