What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Sharing knowledge is one of my greatest values and it is truly just wholesome when I can engage with another to part some knowledge. I don't think if it as just giving them the answer, but instead, working with each individual to create a unique way to work with their own strengths, is what I enjoy most. I thoroughly enjoy understanding those I tutor, as I think the greatest way to help them with anything such as mathematics, is to get into their shoes and think like them. Going into a psychology degree, I think I could develop this even more, going forward.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

As a tutor I believe I have the capacity to empathise. Things don't come naturally to people, especially at tutoring. I believe I have the ability to create a nurturing and safe environment so that my students can truly learn. I believe I am compassionate and I tend to form playful but respectful bonds with those younger than me. Additionally, I love to learn. In being able to teach, I know for a fact that I can learn a lot from the students themselves. And for that reason, I would truly care about the work I do, not just for the work itself, but for the subject and for the students.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is to empathise. To learn about why the student is having difficulties and as such, problem solving and troubleshooting, taking each individual factor into account. This helps to create a nurturing and safe environment for students, and when not in constant fear of being wrong, students can perform better as they will understand better. It is important for the student to feel safe and understood so that they can function at greater capacities, and consequently, understand the process of what they are doing and why they are to do so.
