What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

My favourite aspect of tutoring is seeing how much a student can develop in ability and confidence from week to week, or even after one lesson, as concepts that previously seemed unfathomable begin to feel even simple. It's a wonderful feeling when, after working on an idea or process, it all 'clicks' in the student's mind, and you know that you have really helped them in their studies. I also enjoy meeting students, finding out which subjects they like and dislike, and tailoring my tutoring to meet their personalities.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think my main strengths as a tutor are that I make sure I listen carefully to what my tutee is struggling with or is confused with, and that I try to come up with new, interesting ways for them to understand concepts and remember information. I ensure that I am positive in my teaching, and dynamic. As a student who has only recently finished year 12, I know from personal experience the best ways to remember facts, to overcome challenges in my studies, and to get my head around difficult concepts. This knowledge helps me greatly in tutoring other students.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

In my opinion, the single most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to tailor their help to the individual student. For example, the tutor should listen to the student, assess what exactly they struggle with and what they dislike and like about their subjects. This allows the tutor to personalise the teaching to help their tutee as effectively as possible. I also believe that it's very important to think outside the box when conceiving ways to help a student, as variation makes lessons more interesting and therefore memorable, aiding a student's learning.
