What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Helping someone understand something is one of the most pure joys life has to offer. Being able to track a student's journey from total beginner to master sounds like such a wonderful opportunity.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Presentation, communication skills, empathy and solidarity. I remember every "fun" teacher I ever had, and I want to be able to recreate that for students in-need. I excelled in classes with teachers that "put in the extra effort" to find engaging ways to present content, and I think I have both the skills (technically) and the understanding (past experience, solidarity) to pay it forward.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I like to think of education as a conversation - tutoring can offer 1-on-1 contact with a student to allow them an equal voice in that conversation. As such, I think communication and listening skills are vital to understand a student's particular needs. Beyond that, the ability to "make learning fun" - an engaged student is a thriving one, and I remember how much harder it was to internalize concepts when they came from boorish or otherwise dull teachers. Creating engaging and tailor-made lessons, presenting content in exciting ways, and "teaching not just content, but teaching how to learn".
