What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy the positivity that is exuded from the enthusiasm for learning. Being able to explain concepts in a confident and engaging manner, and have the students receive and respond with the same confidence and engagement is very rewarding. When you see students have a lightbulb moment while doing their work or when they come up to you and tell you about the mark they got on their test, it’s priceless! The fact that there is a cooperative effort between both parties to achieve the goal of in learning makes me feel purposeful and motivated.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I am a fast learner, meaning that I can adapt to new environments very quickly. When I first started tutoring, teachers weren’t always readily available to guide me. I was required to adjust to the system as quickly as possible by asking questions early on, consulting teachers, observing and being attentive to how they work, how to handle a student who is feeling unwell, and dealing with students who are disruptive. Therefore, I need to adapt to a constantly evolving environment without feeling overwhelmed, and am also capable of taking the initiative to solve problems where needed.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Commitment is important for this job. As a student, I have seen teachers who are not familiar with their skills and their students' way of learning, resulting in them feeling disengaged with their subject. As a tutor we need to be able to track the performance of students, familiarise ourselves with their strengths and weaknesses to help them progress. Hence it’s vital that we come in consistently. We also need to have enthusiasm and enjoyment for what we do, to ensure that we are putting the students' improvements in our best interest and be capable of providing the best quality of education.
