What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy explaining new ideas to a person. I find the challenge of breaking down an idea into smaller understandable components very satisfying and fun, along with showing them how a seemingly complex and irrelevant piece of mathematics or physics is actually present in their everyday life. I also prefer to teach in a less formal manner (like how a student helps explain something to a classmate), and this not only makes the lesson feel more approachable to the student, it is also a more relaxed and enjoyable teaching environment for myself.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
Electricity and programming are two area of studies that are often unintuative. I believe my success in my studies is largely due to my ability to break down abstract concepts into smaller ideas and their context. I also believe that it is one of my greatest strengths as a tutor, i am very good at explaining complex and abstract concepts in a way that is easy to understand using models and real life examples. I am also very good at teaching these concepts while keeping them grounded and relevant to the real world making them a lot more fun and interesting to learn.
Most important things I can do for a student π
From my experiences and a tutor and a student, a tutor should never make their lesson feel daunting and uninviting. For example focusing only on heavy amounts of homework can be very off putting for a student. A tutor should be encouraging the student to enjoy the subject they are teaching, because the more enjoyable it is to the student the more effective their learning becomes. Reinforcing the underlying theory rather than rote learning helps the student become more robust in their studies while keeping lessons interesting. And an inviting atmosphere welcomes the student to ask for help.
