What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Though I have never professionally tutored before, I have taught and helped my siblings with their school work. Based off of this, seeing my siblings solve the questions themselves after being completely confused in the beginning really makes me happy.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my strengths as a tutor would be my passion for mathematics and my patience. Once I start something, I become dedicated in seeing it complete. If there is someone who needs my help, I give them my 100% focus and time because I know how it feels to be neglected (by teachers).
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
What I consider to be the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to simply be supportive of them throughout their struggles and accomplishments. A tutor should not only teach their student but they should make them feel worthy as some students may already feel embarrassed or ashamed for needing that extra support. Tutors have the ability to bring back students confidence in learning and push them towards their academic goals.

Ariana knows how to find the mean, median, mode, and range of a given set of numbers.
Ariana does not have the required knowledge for her upcoming exam. She had forgotten how to do probability as this was part of the year 7 syllabus and does not understand majority of topics from single data variable analysis. There was not enough time to go through all topics from probability and single data variable analysis within three lessons, so it was difficult for Ariana to revise for her exam. Overall, Ariana needs to improve on studying on her own, telling me if she needs help, and seeking assistance from her classroom teacher as she has informed me that she does not understand anything her classroom teacher teaches her.
Ariana understood how to find sample space. She has gained some understanding of the equation used to find the probability of an event.

Ariana doesn’t know how to round up, round down and round to a specified decimal place. She struggles to convert fractions to decimals and has a limited understanding of the entire probability topic.

Ariana can write up her 6 – 12 times tables within 5 minutes along with her understanding of long division being very well. She was able to explain what frequency was and how to plot the data on a graph.
Ariana mainly gets stuck on the following: - 11 x 10 - 11 x 11 - 11 x 12 - 12 x 12 This is due to mistakes in adding as she counts up by 11 or 12. Her long division is great up until it gets to remainders. She still hasn’t fully grasped the concept of remainders, but she is getting to it slowly. This lesson, she was able to identify the remainder but hasn’t understood what to do with it. Additionally, her graphs are quite messy and hard to understand.

Ariana did well in her tutoring homework. She was able to minus bigger numbers from smaller numbers and understood why it gives a negative value. She was able to write out her 6 -12 times tables within 6 minutes with her 6 – 10 times tables done well. She understands the meaning of mode and range and can find them given a set of numbers.
Ariana struggles to write out her 11- and 12-times tables still. She confuses median and mean with each other and has trouble with finding the median given an even set of numbers. She also struggles to read questions properly as mentioned a few lessons back but with analysing data and worded algebra questions, it has become much more of a problem. She has told me she can’t read questions properly because she becomes overwhelmed with her surroundings. Towards the end of the lesson, she was very tired and struggled to pay attention. Though she has improved quite a bit, she becomes very discouraged when she gets a few questions wrong and it’s hard for her to regain the confidence to attempt them again. She also wants to focus on the current topic she’s learning at school and leave algebra to later.
