What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Guiding students in the ways of deciphering the many mathematical layers behind a complex ‘word-heavy’ question, hence reducing said question piece-by-piece into more manageable chunks, is what I enjoy most about tutoring. It is a beautiful process and you almost always spot the satisfaction on a student’s face in having conquered what originally seemed an impregnable problem.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Amiable - total engagement with my University’s many communities, such as badminton, music, football, and fundraising, has developed my warm and welcoming nature when meeting people from many different backgrounds for the first time. Likewise, has my many years service in hospitality and tutoring.
Logical - tackling a Master’s degree in mathematics has trained me in the art of solving huge problems, such as proving black holes emit Hawking radiation, in a delicate manner beginning merely with the basic mathematical principles governing physics, and building up carefully and methodically.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Providing rock-solid reasoning for every single step taken in tackling a mathematical problem; an answer provided without its mathematical foundations understood is no use to a student.
Also, carefully guiding students into accepting and being comfortable with failure in mathematics is imperative, as ignoring a wrong answer robs the student of the chance to detect the layer of their answer which needs reconstructing.
