What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I really enjoy the challenge of coming up with different explanations for concepts, based on the student's understanding. Each student learns in different ways, and seeing something click for them is really rewarding.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
Not only do I know the content I tutor, I also know what it's like to not understand the content. Personally, it was a uphill struggle to learn the things I know, and I believe this experience gives me great insight as to what misconceptions the student might be thinking. Based on that, I can adjust my tutoring style to help them.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I believe tutoring helps students develop a genuine love for learning. There are 2 characteristics a tutor needs to achieve this. Firstly, the tutor should have an open and friendly personality. Learning is inherently effortful, and having someone friendly to guide the process makes it more enjoyable and productive. Additionally, tutors need to have empathy. It is not enough for a tutor to be an expert of their field; they must also know what it's like to not understand concepts. This is crucial for the tutors' ability to develop explanations to help students learn and understand.
