What do I enjoy most about tutoring? š
I've always found that lightbulb moment or the set "ohhhhh" when you unpack a concept to someone so rewarding and enjoyable (as both the learner and the teacher). I always thought tutoring was a wonderful way of giving back to the community; bridging that gap in education access to make studies something kids can worry less about and where I hope my passion shows through my tutoring and presence with students. Iād love to help expand upon student potential. These reasons all culminate in why I decided to apply and continue to pursue tutoring!
My Strengths as Tutor šŖ
Patience, Adaptability, and Honesty - are qualities I've picked up from memorable teachers, tutors, and mentors that helped me academically and personally. Patience facilitates openness, in-depth understanding, and communication with students. I always found my patient tutors who walked through topics at my pace more effective which I employ. Adaptability ā as every student is different; my approaches reflect my students learning styles. Honesty ā I'm upfront and transparent about what I do know and what I'm not clear on, I want my students to know it's okay and fine to not know everything!
Most important things I can do for a student š
A tutor is not just only someone who's there to help with homework questions, but more importantly questions outside the classroom. This was something I cherished as a student as I didn't have any role models who could tell me what exam techniques are the best for someone like me or what life is like after HSC, and so on! It's about building a strong relationship with your students to not only provide a safe and comfortable environment for them to unpack their academic weaknesses - but also to be vulnerable and ask for guidance and support.
