What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy helping kids understand concepts that they have been struggling with all week at school. Growing up, I actually had tutors of my own and the relief I felt when I finally understood something that I simply needed more time to focus on or to be explained in a different way is what made me able to achieve high scores and enjoy learning. Knowing that I have made learning an easier and more enjoyable experience for students is what I strive for as a tutor.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
As a second-year university student, it hasn't been long since I was in the same boat as my students. In a lot of ways, the stresses of school are something I still empathise with and therefore it's easier for me to provide a connection and relatability with my students that not all tutors can. I pride myself on being able to think outside of the box, as a result of my own education struggles, for different ways to teach and learn. Not everybody has the same learning style and that's okay. I just make a collaborative environment to adapt and achieve the best results for my students.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The best thing a tutor can do is create an open, collaborative learning environment that instils confidence in their students to learn any concept necessary. I am never afraid of questions as a tutor. In fact, I encourage them because I believe asking questions is the best way to track a student's progress. As a student, I often felt answers dragged out of me by teachers. I aim to create an environment where the students are so invested in what they're learning that they are the ones asking me questions more often. I do this by creating as comfortable of a learning environment as possible.
