What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than seeing another student finally understand and grasp an english or maths concept that they have been struggling to understand for weeks! I love when students feel a sense of accomplishment when they finish a task and know that without any assistance they would be able to do it themselves.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have always been energetic, friendly, and given that I am 1 year out of school I am up to date with how various school systems work as well as the new HSC syllabus. My kind nature and patience are definitely assets that other students would find appealing when working with me. In my final year at school I was elected as the Head of Dalton (Dalton is the academic system which is at the core of Ascham) as well as being on the Senior School Committee. I am excellent with time-management and organisation which would be reflected in the way I approach tutoring sessions with other students.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Being patient and being held accountable for e.g. setting tasks, are 2 crucial elements for effective tutoring. To ensure the student remains positive, motivated and eager to learn, a tutor must also possess these qualities. I am a strong believer in displaying enthusiasm yourself in order for it to rub off onto the student and I know for certain that this is key and it does truly work. Making sure that the student does not rely on you to do their work for them but rather guide them and ensure they understand the content/syllabus/terms makes for a much more effective session.
