What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy seeing the way my teaching has had an impact in the little moments of realisation, such as seeing when they are able to pick up concepts quicker, or seeing their ability to recognise their own grammatical errors. I also love seeing them realise that much of English, in terms of given texts to study, is twisting interpretations of it to suit your ideals. For example, one of my students hated Romeo and Juliet because she believed it to be a celebration of a whirlwind romance, until I pointed out it could arguably be a statement against it, seeing as both meet a tragic end.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths are my patience, and ability to cater my teaching towards the way I find my students learn best. For example, some students learn best through analogy, others through example, and others through a more hands-on approach. I also believe I am able to recognise and address the weaknesses or gaps in each student's education, and focus back on those for a more productive and worthwhile learning experience.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe it is important to create a safe space of learning. Oftentimes, students feel uncomfortable asking teachers about questions, or speaking out in front of class. Establishing your tutoring time as a space in which they can address their concerns and queries, without fear of looking stupid, is instrumental in gaining progress in learning, and also instilling more of a passion for the subject. It also builds confidence, and makes them more likely to speak up outside of your tutoring sessions and gain the most out of their education experience.
