My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think that as a tutor, my strengths are:
1. Patience - I am able to work with the students who struggle at Mathematics and focus on their lack of basics in order to build up their confidence. A lot of students who struggle lack a lot of the basics from earlier years. I like to make sure that if I see a student struggle, I take them back to the beginning and teach them the basics they need;
2. My need to explain the concepts and the thinking process involved rather than teaching a process. I want to make sure the fisherman eats for life.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe instilling confidence in students, and not belittling students are the most important things a tutor can do. A lot of students who struggle at Mathematics get demotivated when the work gets harder and harder. Bringing back the difficulty in questions will start building confidence in students. Constant praising when students get a question right will help them believe that they are able to solve these types of questions alone.
I also think that tutors should lead students to the steps rather than telling the students what to do eg to solve x - 7 = 2, I wouldn't say, +7 to each side.
