What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I have found that I deeply enjoy helping others make connections and discover their own capacity for understanding things they may have thought that they couldn't. Teaching and tutoring is about helping others achieve their greatest academic capacity, and about helping them realise their potential. Being able to facilitate and take part in that process of building up understanding and opening new doors to worlds students otherwise might not have found on their own is remarkably rewarding.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths as a tutor, based on my experience and feedback to date, are my empathy, patience, willingness to approach problems from multiple perspectives, and ability to hear and comprehend the difficulties that students may be facing.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student, in my opinion, is to listen to them. Students seek tutoring because they either aren't understanding something, or believe that they could understand it more comprehensively. This means that there is, fundamentally, a lack of understanding - either in the content material, or in a student's self-appraisal of their own skill. Identifying these gaps in understanding is the alpha and omega for effective tutoring, and this can only be done by truly listening to the student - not only what they are saying, but also what they aren't.
