What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I I enjoy tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to teach to watch a person learn and know that I have helped them achieve a goal. There is a shared joy in that communication that I find very engaging.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have a very broad general knowledge and have a knack for making almost any topic interesting. I speak clearly and enunciate my words correctly which makes listening to me easy to do (I've been told that I sound like an audiobook). My scientific work has taught me to disassemble concepts well so, I am proficient at explaining each part of an idea and how everything fits together to make a coherent whole. I am a patient person and enjoy knowledge for knowledge sake so tutoring becomes a natural extension of my behaviour.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing is to understand each student as a person so that you can personalise their learning and teach to their strengths. This comes with communicating and listening to what that student has to say to you. I like to ask students questions about their background with the subject, or related subjects and what they're hoping to achieve with me. This lets me know where to come from when talking with them and what kind of goals we should set. A calm confidence that we're going to end every session with a step closer to their goals fosters reassurance and a learning atmosphere.
