Great student from throughout the session. Great to see Oliver have his textbook and Maths working out book ready at the beginning. Did very well with most questions. Even did some questions without doing any working out on paper. Common interest in sport, rapport was easily built.

Made a few mistakes when multiplying like and dislike i.e., + x + = +; - x - = +; + x - = -. Made easy errors when multiplying two numbers so needs to be a bit more careful. Also for a few questions, blurted out the answer without doing any pen to paper working out - so I had to tell him that Markers, especially in Year 12 always give marks for students who show their full working out, than no working out at all. Also, they have a big fiesty dog that was not locked in the other room properly. Dog launched at me angrily just after I exited. Needs to ensure that never happens again in future lessons otherwise I will stop tutoring for my physical safety.

For multiplying a mixed number with fractions questions, he only needed to be shown twice and he understood the process and was able to do it himself.

Needs to get faster at starting, showing all working out and finishing questions accurately, perhaps even simplifying larger numbers down, but that will take more practice and time.

Towards the end of the session, questions involving proving the congruence of triangles went really well, and Sid understood my explanations for these questions. Sid looked happier towards the end of the session.

The Cambridge website Sid uses may not be the best source of questions, as there are no given values in the questions and a thorough explanation for the answers is often not given, just the amount, which makes me have to work backwards from the solution to explain why the answer is that amount. Flexibility with availability, as they are only available two days a week, which makes it challenging to align with my schedule.

When he understands the process and the reasons why steps are done a certain way, he switches on and looks happier.

When question asks to multiply two fractions that requires cancelling across diagonals, Aaron found it a bit challenging and really struggled and got stuck several times during the first 45 minutes, but once I explained the process for 5 questions, he was able to do the last 2 questions much more quicker.
