What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I think its deeply satisfying to help someone better understand something that you find interesting or compelling. I loved doing English in year 12 and I firmly believe that helping other people come to appreciate and understand the subject in a similar way would be incredibly fulfilling. Beyond this, I find it especially gratifying how tutoring or teaching someone can develop the depth of your own understanding within a particular subject. I have always felt like I've understood things better after I've had to teach them to someone else.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My biggest strength as a tutor would have to be my communication skills. I am capable of rephrasing or explaining concepts in a number of different ways to better suit a person's particular preferences for learning. I also am quite patient and understanding. I have a high attention to detail and a dedication to specificity in my work that makes me unlikely to let a student get away with only half understanding something.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The greatest benefit of a tutor is without a doubt, the surgical clarity they can offer a student. In school students are taught in broad strokes by teachers that often don't have the time or the resources to focus on each individual student's needs and struggles. As a tutor, you can identify and address the specific anxieties and weaknesses of a student. The small class or individual environment of a tutor provides the ability to scrutinise a student's habits for weak spots or areas of issue on a granular level that your average high-school classroom wouldn't be able to feasibly provide.
