What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I find in maths that even supposedly easy concepts can be very hard to 'get' if not taught clearly. Therefore, when tutoring peers I most enjoyed the moments when they first understood a concept they previously struggled with and were able to complete further questions with ease.My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My greatest strength as a tutor is my understanding of what students face. I myself struggled with mathematics in early and mid high school and know how daunting it can be once you fall behind. Teachers I had would push forward with course content faster than I could keep up with and I relied on peers to help me. With support from these friends and better teachers I achieved top marks in Mathematics Standard during years 11 and 12. Understanding how gratifying it is to rise from the bottom of a class to the top motivates me to help others realise this in my role as a tutor.Most important things I can do for a student π
I believe that the most important thing to do as a tutor is help students feel ok to not understand a concept. Feeling ashamed to have fallen behind is not productive to learning and is overall bad for mental health. By first establishing that to struggle with maths of any difficulty is a common issue among many students, and that they can be helped- the learning process will be much more enjoyable.Testimonials π
