What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
During my time at Kumon as a tutor, I really enjoyed helping younger students with their learning. I loved being able to see that the assistance, guidance and knowledge I had passed onto these students were being utilised, as they could finally grasp onto concepts they found difficult and were struggling with. Seeing them realise their potential and build confidence was something that kept me content and fulfilled.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe that I am able to adapt to the resources around me. As there is no set formula to tutoring, I believe that it's important to adapt to a students needs and difficulties which is something that year 12 taught me and I will definitely be able to provide as a tutor.
In addition, I think that I have great communication skills which allows me to feel confident and hence enthusiastic. I hope that my enthusiasm and interest in a student's life will help them from any sort of discouragement.
Overall, I want to make a student feel valued and be open to their needs.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Having freshly graduated from highschool, I understand the importance of wanting the "perfect" tutor. I believe that a tutor must be confident and patient enough to explain academic concepts from scratch and contribute to the learning confidence of a student. It's also important to be a mentor and make students feel valued. I remember feeling stuck, wanting some sort of encouragement and advice from my tutors which greatly benefitted me. I want to be a tutor who not only helps her students grow academically, but answer questions about the future and be a personal support system for them.
