What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I believe all students can learn effectively, but for some it requires thinking 'outside the box' in order to draw out strengths and a love of learning. When children are excited that they can observe the learning process developing within them, they are inspired to learn more, and a lifelong love of learning is the result. I really enjoy engaging children, building an environment in which they feel comfortable to express themselves. When this is established, inherent strengths can be nurtured, whilst weaknesses can be addressed in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My son has ADHD, and I have had to become very clever at 'striking while the iron is hot', in order to choose the right moment to attempt to instill certain types of information in him. For instance early on in a lesson, he has the ability to concentrait on more difficult concepts, but tires quickly. I then switch to a more light heatred technique, like a word search, or game of hangman, to practice the concepts. I am a very dedicated individual, who is highly organised and determined to succeed. I love learning, and love to see children become confident in their abilities.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Learning is a key to understanding and appreciating the complex beauty of life - enriching the life of the individual. It is one of the key foundations a tutor can establish for their students. A child who has failed to 'keep up' with learning, to understand a concept or course of study, will tend to drop further behind, and attempt to mask the fact they have not understood, thereby falling further behind with more difficult concepts. Achieving these milestones with confidence is the key to effective teaching, enabling the student to trust in their own inherent ability to understand.
