What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I particularly enjoy the process of modifying my teaching style in order to suit the needs of a particular student. I view students as individuals with unique and diverse needs and I do not believe that there is a "cookie cutter" way of learning. I relish the opportunity to develop unique strategies in order to suit the needs of each student. I find the feeling of when a concept finally "clicks" for a student to be extremely rewarding and I get a great deal of pleasure when I see students achieve their academic potential.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I strike a good balance between developing a friendly relationship with a student whilst still maintaining a primary focus on the student's work and not crossing the line into becoming "friends". I believe that a tutor is less effective when he/she presents as a teacher-like authority figure to students. A more effective tutor develops a more egalitarian, collaborative relationship with a student. The rapport generated between a tutor and student helps to motivate a student and improve his/her outlook/attitudes towards studies.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

A tutor does not just teach a student a particular subject. I believe that the most important function of a tutor is to foster overall academic confidence in a student and to develop better study techniques/learning habits more generally. A good tutor can give a student motivation and techniques to achieve not only in the tutored subject, but in all subjects. A tutor can improve a student's attitude, self-esteem and confidence towards studies and can serve as a guide or a role model for future studies (including for tertiary studies).
