Ruby had completed all the maps questions, not much issue on looking direction from each given location. She can answer confidently ?. Moreover, we also move on to the last topics angles. After my demonstration, Ruby can clearly listed the different type of angle 1) Acute, 2) Right angle, 3) Obtuse and 4) Reflex angle. We also do some activities on practicing how to use protector to measure angel.

So far, she is progressing very well. She still remembers most of the topics we had learned this year? well done!

We begin a new topic today which is space. This topic is focusing on understanding the 3D shapes so we had drawn and form different shapes based on the questions. Ruby had completed all the drawings (drawing on the Zoom screen) and she even completed the 7 homework questions in the class. She can name the polygons based on different sides such as 5 sides- pentagon, 8- octagon and 9- nanogon. Although she forgot a few such as the 6 sides- hexagon and 7 sides- hexagon. Moreover, she can identify different 3D shapes such a Trapezoids, Prism, Cyclinder, Parallelogram and more. Ruby is very confident in shapes.Hence, we had moved on to another topic which is “Using Maps” as we a have 20 minutes left before class ends. Before we begin, I had drew a compass and ask Ruby to labelled the direction. Surprisingly, Ruby got all the directions correct! Well done! We had done the first two questions the worksheet of looking at maps while identifying the direction and town of NSW, we will be continuing more next week.

Just the using maps section, be careful when looking at the direction from a different town. As we just begins this topic, so it's alright to have some careless mistake on pinpoint the direction. We will continue to practice more next week Keep up the good work! No homework for this week as she had completed everything in the class.

In today class, we had continue to work on the calculating distance and travel worksheet. Ruby had successfully completed all the questions of finding the distance travel for each shape (square, rectangle, equilateral and isosceles triangles). Good job! We have moved into the problem-solving section of using the DST (Distance, Speed and Time) Formula. I explained and show her how to use the DST formula on the problem-solving question. Surprisingly, she copes with it so quickly and is able to find the keys and apply the formula by herself to solve it! Well done! She only spend 15 minutes for all 6 problem solving questions with correct answers! Great timing! Then, we moved into a new topic mass. In this worksheet, we begin to solve the problem of finding the mass of each object. To test if Ruby understand the mass problem solving question, I had ask Ruby to explain the keys and steps to solve the question. Ruby read each question carefully and describe the steps required to take to solve it. Everything she mentioned is on the right track??Hence, she confidently complete the mass problem-solving question without much issue. As Ruby doing her work so quickly today, we further moved into another part of conversion. The great improvements from Ruby is she remembered some of the keys of units conversion such as (kg to g, L to kg). She also remembers to write down the keys at the beginning of the conversion question, so that she can refer it easily during the calculation.

I'm happy Ruby had a huge improvement in her problem-solving and conversion question. The things need to improve for this chapter is remember the DST formula as it will be useful in highschool. Overall, Keep up the good work! No homework for this week as Ruby completed the 10 conversion question in the class. We had successfully completed the Chapter 4 and moved into Chapter 5: Space, after the holiday.

Ruby did a great job in previous time homework, so in today class we begin a new topic on Distance and Travel. Ruby did a great job in finding the distance travel based on the shapes (square, rectangle and equilateral triangle). She also remember to do the conversion of the length unit before calculating the total distance travelled. Well done! Due to some technical issue we only have 30 minutes, and Ruby seems a bit frustrated and down because of the internet connection issue. So we played a mini drawing game at the end of the class. I didn't give her any homework for this week, as we haven't covered much for distance and travel in today class. So it's a rest week for her. We will move on to challenging questions next week.

All good for now. So far Ruby understand the techniques to calculate the total distance. We will practice with the formula next with the problem solving question. Keep it up!
