What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I myself utilised several tutors throughout my high school experience, and hence have developed a knowledge of the substantial influence in which a good tutor can make on a student. Not only in terms of general course content knowledge, but beyond that into general advice in terms of studying better, being motivated to learn as well as future pathways which they may be interested in but lacking in knowledge. My most recent tutor was a main reason as to why I decided to choose the degree which I will be doing this year as well as my great HSC marks.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

As slightly touched on, I believe my biggest strength as a tutor is that I have been in the position of both tutor and student. Through such, I have learnt what a mediocre tutor is, compared to an excellent tutor. Like everything I do, I strive to be an excellent tutor who can actually make a difference to students. This is mainly by learning about the student as an individual and which method of learning is most effective and efficient, and adapting to that. This will ensure that the learning experience is more pleasant for them and most beneficial.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

The most important thing which a tutor can do for a student is be committed to truly making a difference to their academic life, or even beyond. From my first hand experience with great tutors, I realise how they often go beyond the role of an average teacher and persist with the explanation of a concept until the point where it is solidified in the students mind, so that they are able to re-explain that information through paraphrasing, answering questions and applying it in different situations. Going into such depth of content makes a significant difference in a students marks.
