What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Studying a mathematics degree myself, I have a distinct passion for the subject. This passion drives me at most to learn more about mathematics as a discipline. What is the most effective method of learning mathematics? To teach it!
Thus, what I enjoy most about tutoring is how learning happens in parallel, with the tutor bettering their own intuitions of simple concepts and the student reaping the rewards of informed teachings.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My clear and expressive tone combined with a very calm demeanor allows me to explain complex problems and concepts in more easily digestible parts.
Having a larger, tertiary understanding of mathematical concepts in fields like linear algebra, and multivariable calculus puts me in a unique position. I have developed simple and easy to understand intuitions for simple high-school maths problems in order to better learn my own lessons in pure and practical maths fields. Since I already have these simple intuitions on hand, I can better teach students.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
To me, the single most important thing a tutor can do is to be reliable. Showing up on time, ready to teach, ready to answer questions. With a consistent tone and method that allows the student to become comfortable. This in turn fosters an environment that better suits a students ability to both learn, and engage with the subject. Another important thing is to sometimes have a laugh, to joke and have fun while teaching. Students dreading the arrival of their tutor is a situation that needs to be desperately avoided, and allowing them to have a bit of fun can easily prevent this.
