What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy being able to help students understand a concept that I have become familiar and confident with throughout my schooling experience.
In Mathematics especially, it can be an exciting feeling to answer a hard question or learn a new concept, so I enjoy being able to help students reach that same feeling of accomplishment. It's great being able to communicate with the student and develop a professional relationship that allows the student to feel confident to voice their opinions and really make progress towards achieving better results in a comfortable environment.
Furthermore, tutoring/teaching can be a really rewarding experience as you witness the student's progression towards optimal results.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My strengths include my knowledge in Mathematics, in particular the Extension 1 Mathematics HSC course. I feel that I have a very thorough understanding of the subject and am confident in my ability to teach it effectively. I'm also a very competent communicator, and believe I can interact with the student in the best way possible to help them excel in their studies.
I'm a very gentle person and see that to be a strength as it allows the student to be comfortable and engaged with myself as their tutor.
Ultimately, I am a dedicated tutor that understands the strain on a student that study can provoke, and act accordingly to help the student achieve their best results.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I consider one the most important things is to be really attentive towards the students needs and questions. The last thing you'd want is to have a tutor who doesn't listen or play close attention, and consequently struggle to explain the concepts in an effective way for the student to understand. You need to be patient and attend to the needs of the student only.
It is also critical that I be organised and prepared for each tutorial session, allowing for efficiency as myself, the tutor, and the student can maximise the time that we have to really make progress and address/conquer the difficult questions.
Overall, I believe that it is most important that I am committed to the student. This meaning that I am never late or miss tutorials, I focus on how I can help the student develop from alternate methods, and I provide assistance whenever possible, whether it be in our tutorial sessions or at other time, e.g. when the student sends a question via text message or other forms of contact.
