What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy the social and guidance aspects of tutoring the most; there's not many jobs out there where you get to talk about subjects you're interested in and for motivating their interest in a subject and helping someone grow.
There's also the satisfaction you get when you see the student achieve their academic goals because you were part helping that growth process.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think I have three main strengths as a tutor.
First, I feel I can build rapport readily with many students which is important for helping motivate them down the track.
My second strength is that I have practical know-how as to how to prepare lessons and I've always kept improving how I teach through learning about learning, study skills and pedagogy on my own and getting feedback from students about how I teach, to better help my students.
Lastly, I feel I have an excellent command of mathematics, chemistry and biology which allows me explain concepts easily.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
One of the most important things a tutor can do is to help the student develop good study habits and learning skills because these things are useful to them beyond any immediate academic goal.
The second thing important thing, particularly for struggling students, is to help change their attitude towards a subject because this is often a large mental road-block to doing well.
One other important thing a tutor can do is to be able to explain the subject matter in a memorable way; this is so that they help a student learn faster and achieve their academic goals.
