What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
I thoroughly enjoy the engagement with the students I am tutoring and seeing them understand a problem or topic they were having difficulty with. It is extremely rewarding to see the confidence of the student grow as they feel more comfortable in their work and also their commitment to the subject.
Realistically, I also find great strengths for myself in constantly going over maths topics that are still relevant to the foundations of my mathematical studies.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
I am personable and really easy going. If my student feels discouraged I use different methods of teaching e.g. starting with an easy question and building confidence to answer harder questions. I don't believe that there is only one method of approaching a problem - one of my strengths lies in finding approaches to mathematics that will be the most effective, conducive and understandable for the student. Finally I am experienced and have grades to show for it. I have been an extension/advanced maths and english student throughout middle & high school
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
I find that a healthy, positive and communicative friendship with the student is crucial to them progressing. It's important to be patient and ensure you can work with all personality types and children of all ages. It's also important that tutors are prepared with teaching methods and material to help the students. They should be proactive in their approach to tutoring (such as finding helpful and relevant resources for the student to use)
