What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I very much enjoy tutoring since I can see for myself how students upon better understanding the subjects they struggle with begin to much more enjoy them and even become passionate about them. I think what I enjoy most about tutoring is feeling like I am potentially setting up a student on an academic path he or she may have shied away from before. In some cases the improvement of certain students' academic performances has alleviated tensions in their homes and kept them from having to leave school (this more so at the low-income high school I volunteered at in Costa Rica).

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think one of my main strengths is my patience and confidence I place on my students. I've learnt that it's much more worthwhile to have a student struggle trying to understand a concept until he or she gets it through their own reasoning rather than simply telling them all the answers and hoping they can memorize them. I tend to try and tutor students through questions rather then answers and on many occasions they themselves come up with the answers and explanations they thought they didn't have, this however requires patience which I gladly have.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Instill interest in a subject. Without a doubt. A student can get by doing homework with friends and using online tools to complete exercises that are more challenging but really only a dedicated tutor will be able to ignite interest in a student for a subject they'd previously been struggling with. When a student sees another young person be very passionate about a subject he or she may feel inclined to look at this tutor as a bit of a role model and thus develop interest for the subject themselves.
