What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is the ability to pass on my knowledge to future generations while fostering critical thinking and creativity, even in traditionally structured subjects like mathematics. While maths often has a single orthodox method for solving problems, I believe in exploring solutions that break down complex concepts into easily digestible parts. More importantly, I strive to instil an appreciation for the underlying mechanisms behind problems, encouraging students to move beyond memorisation and instead develop a deep understanding of the subject.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

One of my greatest strengths as a tutor is my genuine love for teaching, whether it be helping my university peers or mentoring my juniors. Not only does this allow me to support others in their learning, but it also reinforces my own conceptual understanding, deepening my grasp of the subject matter. Additionally, my experience in the army, where I led soldiers in high-pressure environments, has instilled in me a strong sense of patienceβ€”an essential quality in tutoring. I firmly believe that ensuring students feel no undue pressure and are comfortable enough to share their thought processes

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to instil confidence in their ability to solve problems and understand concepts. Confidence builds momentum, which is essential for tackling exams and mastering new material. A tutor should create an environment where students feel encouraged to engage with challenges, rather than intimidated by them. Additionally, guiding students to explore alternative solutions is crucial in helping them develop a dynamic understanding of concepts.
