What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy seeing the progression of students, especially those who have put in a dedicated amount and hard-work and eventually seeing results. This gives me satisfaction as my job as a tutor has been accomplished but also seeing the pure happiness from a student motivates me to keep teaching them and allowing them to develop key skills in their academics.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I think a strength I possess is the ability to really bring out the best in students. When I teach my friends, I always ask them questions for them to develop a foundation of knowledge instead of spoon feeding them answers. I feel like students learn best when they are actively engaging in content instead of just receiving answers easily.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide them a pillar of support especially in times that they are confused and stressed. If a tutor isn’t able to actively aid a student in their studies and providing them reassurance that their hard-work will eventually pay off, I feel like as a tutor, you’ve failed your part. Additionally, tutors need to grow a connection with students and gain their trust so that they can work together to strengthen and achieve their academic endeavours.

About Henry

Education/Academic Background

I recently graduated from Caroline Chisholm Catholic College, receiving an ATAR of 96.75 and now perusing a Undergraduate Bachelor's of Oral Health at the University of Melbourne, hoping to undergo the Master of Dental Surgery as a postgraduate course. After studying rigorously through VCE and understanding what study techniques are best catered towards me and my peers around me, I understand truly that each student learns differently. In High School, I did Mathematical Methods, Economics, Religion and Society, English Language and Chemistry as well as General Mathematics accelerated in year 11.

Hobbies and Interests

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends whether that be talking at their house and sharing a meal or driving around listening to some music. I also enjoy volleyball and basketball and I consistently gym as leisure. I also enjoy watching movies at the cinemas and having genuine conversations with friends.

Tutor Goals

I'm looking forward to tutoring students especially at the early years of their education to build a foundation of study habits and techniques that will be crucial towards their success for VCE or any academic goals they are trying to achieve. Moreover, I want to teach and educate students on the foundational concepts that will be required even through higher year levels and allow them to get a head-start towards their educational journey.
