What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The best thing about tutoring is being able to witness a student's journey of self-development. Working with a student to address their weaknesses and turning those areas into their strengths makes it one of the most personally rewarding experiences and jobs out there. I also love the unique challenge that each student represents. Being able to apply my pedagogy to students from all different walks of life is invaluable to my self-development as an educator.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My greatest strength as an educator is in being able to recognise a student's unique needs and adapting my method of instruction accordingly. This is a vital skill that I acquired directly from my professional experience in the classroom environment. Stemming from this, I also excel at fostering genuine self-reflection among my students. As an individual and self-emanating process, learning not only results from effective instruction but from a critical growth mindset.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The single-most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to equip them with the skills they require for future academic and personal success. Chief among these is critical thinking. Critical thinking underpins all aspects of the curriculum, from solving unfamiliar problems in the field of mathematics by applying one's existing knowledge, to assuming and considering foreign perspectives in the study of English and/or Humanities. Moreover, critical thinking sets student up for success in the workplace of the future and as responsible global citizens.

About Gabriel
Who am I?
Hello! My name is Gabriel and I'm a high school teacher in training. For me, being a teacher is not just a job, it's a way of life. I try my best to live and breathe the ideas and knowledge that one encounters in the classroom. As such, I spend most of my spare time reading the classics and brushing up on the most obscurely fascinating chapters of history. Feel free to ask me what my "Roman Empire" is this week and I'll try to keep it brief! While English, History, Philosophy, and Study of Religion are my specialities, I'm also mathematically minded (having received 96s for both Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics in high school) and I'd love to put those skills back to use.
What kind of a tutor am I?
My approach to tutoring comes straight from the classroom. I did my first professional experience at Brisbane State High last year, and I was fortunate enough to be given free rein over classes spanning subjects from Philosophy to Ancient History and year levels from 7 to 12. A teacher, and indeed a tutor, must understand their student's needs and be able to adapt accordingly. From the get-go, I will endeavour to understand your unique knowledge, and your way of learning, as the foundation for our sessions. Another cornerstone of effective two-way learning is feedback. I encourage you to interrupt and question me - it all helps me grow as a person and as a future teacher. Critical thinking is also a must for me! I will challenge you to think outside the box and learning to ask questions is part and parcel with developing this essential life skill.
