What I would enjoy most about tutoring is the opportunity to help students unlock their potential and develop confidence in their abilities. Seeing a student grasp a concept they initially found challenging is incredibly rewarding, as it demonstrates not just academic growth but also a boost in their self-belief. As someone currently studying for an associate degree in engineering, I can relate to the challenges of tackling technical subjects like mathematics, and I find great satisfaction in breaking down complex ideas into simpler, relatable parts that make learning more approachable.

My strengths lie in patience, adaptability, and clear communication. Working as a commercial cleaner alongside my engineering studies has taught me discipline, persistence, and time management—qualities I aim to bring into tutoring. My engineering studies allow me to relate mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios, such as calculating angles and forces in structural design, while my cleaning work highlights practical applications like measuring cleaning solutions or managing time efficiently through scheduling, making maths more relatable and engaging for students.

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to foster a supportive learning environment, tailor their teaching to the student’s individual needs, and encourage critical thinking. By recognising each student’s unique learning style, a tutor can customise their approach to maximise understanding.
